SPRINGARAMA REPORT – 2008
If you’ve never been to Springarama then let me invite you to a wonderful weekend away where God will meet you in a way you’ve never expected.
This past Springarama – April 2008 – saw over 300 ladies gather together at the Ambassador Hotel in Kingston for an exciting weekend of spiritual renewal as Merrie Eizenga led us on “The Journey”. She talked about the heavy baggage we tend to carry around and the contents that we have inside. She encouraged us to unpack our baggage, face what was inside, and then trust the Lord to help us deal with the heavy “Stones” that we keep carrying around.
Springarama is a great time for seeing old friends and making new ones, as well as raising money for exciting Missions Projects that help to meet the needs of women around the world. (This past year we raised over $7,000 for projects in Haiti and $2,955 for the “Dorcas Design” project in Hong Kong and China that teaches a sewing trade to disabled and abused women.) We also enjoy times of relaxation, fellowship with one another and lots of great food (though sometimes it may be too much food). Add to all this our wonderful workshops, craft projects, as well as our Saturday Night Talent Show and you come away from a weekend that has been filled with lots of joy, music, laughter and tears.
For me there is never just one highlight of the weekend, but many. For the past 20 years I can’t remember a speaker who didn’t make me go away feeling I had come into the presence of our Almighty God. There are so many aspects to Springarama that I encourage you to come and see for yourself. Lives are changed as women are stepping out of their comfort zone and being motivated to go home and make a difference in their families, Churches and communities.
This year we are looking forward to having Hilary Price as our Guest Speaker. She is the wife of Charles Price, the pastor of People’s Church in Toronto, and we have heard exciting things about her ministry.
So grab a friend or two and set aside April 24th, 25th and 26th, and get ready to Let Go and Let God meet you in a special way as we discover that “God is Closer Than You Think.”
