FALL FESTIVAL ‘07

Ladies, your heart for missions is evident in your generosity.

Many women in Bulgaria travel to Greece to find work to support their families. Our Silent Auction fund of $1035 was sent to help Free Methodist churches meet their needs and minister to their hearts.

The offering was sent to Debbie Hogeboom’s efforts in Eldoret, Kenya. She is writing a new curriculum specifically for women. Debbie has been home in Canada for most of 2008 because of the earlier unrest in Kenya, but is now back and can work on the curriculum.

SPRINGARAMA ‘08

            In early January the WMI committee decided that the Saturday morning offering would go to Haiti. There is always an ongoing need there. But as the date of Springarama grew closer, the news media revealed even more pressing need for food and help. Our offering provided a colposcope worth US$5000 (medical equipment) for the Dessalines hospital AND sent $4516.29 to the Haiti food fund.

            The Silent Auction was very exciting to the very end. A record number of items were donated and ‘bidding wars’ drove the prices up – all for a good cause. Dorcas Design, a Free Methodist micro-enterprise teaching sewing to disabled and abused women in China, was sent $2960 to help them expand and accept more trainees.

FALL FESTIVAL ‘08

            The idea of splitting Fall Festival into East and West is tried this year for the first time. The focus is changing, as well, to unite us with our many multi-cultural sisters in the West (Toronto area) and in the East (Ottawa area, including Quebec.)

            The Silent Auction funds will be going towards Free Methodist church plants in Canada; FFWest to the multi-cultural churches there, and FFEast to the Quebec church plants.

            The Offering for both East and West will be given to Sok & Savy Em who are missionaries to Cambodia, building a seminary to train pastors.
